1. Aim
The aims of the Journal of the Korean Association for Science Education (JKASE) are to promote practices of science education research in high quality among science education researchers, science educators, and relevant resource personnels and to exchange updated research results timely among science education communities and interest groups.

2. Type of submission

Research articles

Various types of research articles on science teaching and learning are major domain of the JKASE, including, but not limited to, investigations employing experimental, qualitative, ethnographic, historical, survey, philosophical, or case study research approaches, position papers, policy perspectives, and critical reviews of the literature. The research articles should

1) discuss the importance of the study for science teaching and learning
2) provide a link between the problem and the study design
3) also establish a relationship between the study and previous work
4) report research methodology in a concise manner
5) present results with data tables and figures, if used
6) quotations from various sources should be used to support the author's assertions
7) these quotations should be adequately referenced, and
8) the conclusions and implications should be clearly presented. Overall, the writing styles
should be concise and arguments clear.

Comments, criticism, reports, letters, and others

These should contain expressions of opinions or information relating to articles published previously or to matters of interest to science education communities.



3. Manuscript style and regulation

1)Manuscripts which have not been published elsewhere may be submitted to the JKASE
2) Manuscript should be written in Korean or English and if necessary, chinese, English, and other language or symbols can be added in parentheses.
3) Manuscript should be submitted in the protocol format of 'JKASE.hwp' obtained from the KASE webpage.
4) The authors should submit revised manuscripts and defense reports within one month after receiving reviewers' evaluation. Otherwise manuscripts are subject to be rejected.
5) Manuscript should begin with the title, authors, and affiliation. If manuscripts are written in Korean, then, the title, authors, and affiliations in Korean, first and in English second and if manuscripts are in English, these should be written in English only.
6) For research articles, abstract should be a brief, comprehensive summary of the contents of the manuscripts and should be accurate, self-contained, concise and specific, non-evaluative, and coherent and readable. Abstract should be written in both Korean and/or English. The length of abstract is limited to the 800~1,000 syllables in Korean and the 200~250 words in English. If manuscripts are in English, abstract should be written in English only. Key words should be provided in both languages and not exceed 8 words.
7) Citation in text should be presented as follows:

▶ When the numbers of authors are between one to three
ex) Kim, Lee, & Park (2013) or (Kim, Lee, & Park, 2013)

▶ When the numbers of authors are more than three
ex) Kim, et al. (2013) or (Kim, et al., 2013)
8)References should follow APA style, but without the use of italic type.

▶ Journal:

9) Additional explanation for main text can be placed as footnote with symbols as upper letters (1, 2, +, ++, etc.) in the bottom part of each page.
10)Table and figures

가) Titles of tables and figures should be written in English and texts inside tables and figures may be in English or Korean.
나) Table should be created by use of Hangul (.hwp) table function and horizontal lines only should be shown with few exceptions.
다) Tables and figures are placed in right place of the text.
라) Numbering of tables and figures are Table 1, 2, 3, .... and Figure 1, 2, 3, ....
마)Figures should be clear and perfect enough for readjusting sizes and printing.
11) Authors may submit the manuscripts of length not exceeding 100 pages of 200 characters writing paper (or not exceeding 10 A4 pages of protocol format.).
12) Manuscripts should be prepared according to the style prescribed by the American Psychological Association (2009), Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.).

4. Checkpoints for submission

Qualification for submission

All authors of manuscripts should hold membership of the Korean Association for Science Education before submission.

Submission

Manuscripts should be completed using a protocol (JKASE.hwp) provided by KASE and be submitted through online submission system on webpage.

Author anonymity

KASE employs an anonymous review policy (blind review). Therefore, the authors' names and affiliations should appear the manuscript application form at online submission system only. To ensure anonymity in the review process, when authors cite their own work, the word, 'author' should be inserted in the text to maintain anonymity.

▶ Citation in text: Author (year) state.... ▶ Citation in reference list: Author (year). ...

Publication fees

Authors should pay 100,000won as a basic fees for 10 printed pages. If the number of total pages exceeds 10, authors are requested to pay 20,000won for each additional page. If the study is conducted under research funds, then authors should pay extra 200,000won besides the basic publication fee and fees for additional page.

Copyright
동 의서 제출

The principal or/and all authors should complete and sign the JKASE copyright transfer form at the time of publishing papers. The completed copyright form may be created in image file (jpg jpeg pdf) and submit through e-mail, fax, etc.

주의사항

1) If quality of tables, figures, photos, etc are poor and editing and reproducing are necessary, then, authors are requested to pay for it. (ex. 20,000won per figure)
2) Authors may order reprints (30 or 50 copies) of the published paper with additional expenses.
